Does WEBP Reduce Image Quality?
WebP’s reputation mixes two modes. Sites usually ship lossy WebP for photos. Design pipelines may use lossless WebP for UI. Asking whether WebP reduces quality without naming the mode is incomplete.
Verdict: Lossy WebP can reduce quality (often with better size than JPG at similar looks). Lossless WebP does not discard pixel data the way JPG does.
