What is DOC?
Microsoft Word 97–2003 Document is the older binary Microsoft Word document format used before DOCX (Office Open XML), created by Microsoft (1997+). DOC is the legacy Word format. Prefer DOCX for modern editing and PDF for final distribution. Convert DOC→DOCX when collaborators use current Office or Google Docs.
