What happens to image quality?
JPG is typically lossy. Saving as TXT keeps the pixels or samples you already have — it cannot restore detail JPG already discarded. JPG: JPEG splits images into blocks and discards high-frequency detail people notice less. Quality settings trade size for sharpness. Each re-encode can add generation loss — keep a master when you expect more edits. JPG is excellent for photos and weak for flat UI text. Text: TXT compression: none or container. Lossless (or non-destructive packaging) keeps reconstructable data — size savings come from packing efficiency, not throwing detail away. Typical size profile: Tiny. Does Text support transparency?
Text does not keep transparency — TXT does not support an alpha channel. Convert to PNG, WebP, AVIF, or SVG when you need transparent backgrounds.
